Team messages
When your workspace has at least one active teammate who is not the workspace owner, a Team Conversations control (message icon) appears in the top bar. A small dot on the icon can mean there is new team activity; it clears when you open the panel, not per-thread inside the panel. Opening team chat closes the AI chat panel if it was open, and vice versa.
Using the panel
The chat opens as a floating panel (bottom-right) so you stay on the current screen. The header title is Conversations; the subtitle switches between channel conversation, Direct messages, or a prompt to select a conversation.
Use the toggle conversations control (message-circle icon) to show or hide the sidebar list. On desktop, channels and direct messages appear in that narrow column; on mobile, the same list opens in a dialog instead.
Under Channels, each row uses a hash and the channel name. Under Direct messages, you see avatars, names, and a green or gray online dot. If nothing exists yet, the product shows short empty states (no channels, no team members, or no conversations yet). When both exist, the first channel or first teammate may be selected automatically.
The thread shows each message with sender, date and time, and You for your own messages. @Mentions are highlighted in the message text. Hover a message and use the smile control to open an emoji grid; reactions appear as badges under the message.
At the bottom, type in the field and press Send. Type @ followed by letters to open Mention teammate—pick a name to insert their @name. The field and send button stay disabled until a channel or direct thread is active, and while a send is in progress.
When you need more context
Open Team → Conversations for the full experience: creating channels, member lists, and layouts that do not fit the compact top-bar panel.
